Death and Reincarnation (Madison Shecker's Story) pt. 49 pt. 1

"...Tis the season to be jolly! YAY, it's Christmas time! Man, I love Christmas. The tree, the presents, the food. It's all so amazing that it's no wonder kids all over the world wait for it each year. Well, most kids that is. Why is it that Toshiro always finds some way to dampen the mood of a happy occassion? I will never be able to understand how he does it. Well, at the same time, I can understand it, seeing as how not many Christians like myself live in Japan. Though considering that the Soul Society is made up of people from all over the world, you would think that I wouldn't be the only one who celebrates Christmas in this world for some reason. But, oh well, right now I have one thing to concentrate on: Giving Toshiro the best first Christmas he'll ever have...hopefully..."

OUR WORLD
The Mall
Madison's Perspective
Madison laughs as she, Cree, Virginia, and Toshiro (Tomas to Virginia) walk through the mall, laughing at a story Cree tells about a Santa run-in.
"God, you should of been looking to see that no one was in front of you, Cree." Madison comments.
"It's not my fault that the dude stopped suddenly right in front of me, it was his fault." Cree argues.
"Alright, alright, whatever you say Cree." Virginia says, before pointing at something in a nearby store window, "Hey Madison, isn't that the pair of slippers your mom want?"
"Yeah, does it say how much they are?" Madison asks as she walks closer to the window.
"Um, $12.83." Toshiro answers.
"I think I have enough. C'mon guys, I'm getting them." Madison says as she walks into the store.
After a few minutes, Madison finds herself at a register line, holding a pair of the same slippers in the window. She looks over to see Cree and Virginia in a random conversation, and Toshiro just looking around, letting his eyes wander around the many decorations for Christmas time.
"Hey, Yatta...I mean, Madison." Toshiro says.
"Yeah?" Madison answers.
"Who's Santa?" Toshiro asks.
His question causes Cree and Virginia to stop talking and for Madison eyes to widen dramatically.
"Who's Santa? You're kidding right?" Madison asks.
Toshiro doesn't answer.
"You know, Santa Clause? Comes into your house through the chimney and leaves presents on Christmas Eve? Ring a bell?" Virginia asks.
Toshiro shakes his head.
"Nope, and what exactly is Christmas?" Toshiro asks, causing them all to gasp, "I mean, I have heard of it, but I've never experienced it."
"How can you not experience Christmas?! It's impossible!" Cree yells.
"Cree...be quiet. Remember, Toshi...I mean, Tomas, has lived in Japan for most of his childhood, so he probably never celebrated it." Madison explains.
"How does that change anything?" Virginia asks.
"In Japan, most of the population are Buddists, and only a slim amount are Christian." Madison answers.
"Oh." Cree and Virginia say.
Madison turns towards Toshiro.
"So, you've never experienced Christmas?" Madison asks.
"No, not once." Toshiro answers.
Madison sighs, then smiles.
"Alright, it's official, we're making this your best first Christmas ever!" Madison says, smiling bright.
Toshiro blinks.
"What?" Toshiro asks.
"You're going to come to my house, and I'm going to show you everything that's amazing about Christmas." Madison answers as she hands the lady the slippers.
"But-" Toshiro starts.
"But nothing, you're going to enjoy yourself, and I will make sure I get you the perfect present." Madison interupts as she gives the lady the money.
"A present?" Toshiro asks.
"A present. It's a tradition during Christmas to give presents to friends and family, as a way of saying I love you or you mean a lot to me." Cree explains.
"It's pretty simple to understand." Virginia comments.
"Yes, very." Madison agrees as she thanks the lady and walks off from the counter, followed by the others.
"Alright." Toshiro says with a sigh.

3 hours later
Madison's House
Madison breaths deeply as she walks into the family room, where her mom and dad sit, decorating the room with gold garlands. Her mom turns when she hears her nearing footsteps, and smiles.
"Hi, Honey." her mom says as she picks up another long strand of the garland.
"Hey Mom." Madison answers.
"Whatcha doing, Madison?" her dad asks.
"Nothing, just wanted to ask something."
"Oh? And what's that?" her mom asks.
"Well, uh..." Madison starts, "I wanted to know if I could have a friend come join us...on Christmas..."
Her mom and dad look up at her, surprised by her question.
"Why?" her dad asks.
"Well, you see, their parents are out of town, and won't be back 'til the 27th, so I thought that maybe we should invite them to join us." Madison explains, "I mean, it's not like we won't have enough room or food. And I already bought them a present, so we wouldn't have to worry about it-"
"Madison." her dad interupts, "Who's your friend?"
"Uh...Tomas." Madison answers.
Her dad raises an eyebrow.
"A boy?" he asks.
"I know it's strange, but I really don't want him to be alone on Christmas." Madison says.
Her dad looks down in thought for a moment, before looking over at her mom, who does some gesture, causing her dad to sigh.
"Alright, he can spend the day with us, and considering that his parents aren't home..if he wants, he can come over tomorrow and spend the night, even come to the night service. How does that sound?" her dad answers.
Madison's face immediately lights up.
"Yes, Yes! That's awesome! Thanks Mom, Dad!" Madison yells as she hugs them both, happy as can be.
"Your welcome. But remember, since he's a boy, no funny buisness." her mom says.
Madison's cheeks begin to turn red.
"Wha-?!" Madison starts.
"Yeah, no sneaking off." her dad agrees, laughing slightly.
"I don't like him like that!" Madison yells as she runs off to her room, shutting the door.
"Ugh." Madison groans.
"Who don't you like like that?" Toshiro's asks from her bed.
Madison jumps, not expecting Toshiro to respond, or even be in her room.
"T-Toshiro?! W-W, H-How did you get into my house? My room?!" Madison asks, still trying to catch her breath.
"I used kido to make myself invisible, and I came in with your brother when he entered the house." Toshiro answers, "Though, I think he sensed my pressence."
"That's not the problem. But, oh, guess what." Madison asks as she walks over and sits beside him.
"What?" Toshiro asks.
"Tomorrow, my parents said you can come and spend the night, come to service with us, and even spend Christmas with us. Isn't that great?!" Madison confesses, smiling brightly.
Toshiro grins.
"Seriously?" he asks.
Madison nods.
"Yepe, and you don't have to sneak in. You can show yourself to everyone." Madison adds.
"Alright, that works." Toshiro agrees.
"Yay!" Madison says as she jumps off the bed.
With all of this great stuff happening, only one thing is left to do...
Find Toshiro the perfect present.

Toshiro's Perspective
Toshiro gulps as he knocks on the familiar door of Yattamori's house, not use to it. Soon, footsteps are heard from the other side, until it opens. On the other side of the screen door is Yattamori's older brother, Tyler. He's at least 6 foot tall, and wears a under-armor tee with jeans, only in his socks, but still towering and somewhat intimidating. Like Yattamori has said, he's in perfect physical condition, showing that he truly is a jock. His dirty blonde/light brown hair reminds is cut is a popular fashion, and his blue eyes cause him to stand out from the rest of his family, though the cut of his jaw and other physical traits kinda resemble those of Yattamori's.
"Hello? Can I help you?" Tyler asks, his voice deep like most guys his age.
"Uh, Is Yatta-, I mean, Madison here?" he asks.
Tyler's eyes shrink slightly.
"Why do you want Madison?" he asks.
"Um, she told me to meet her here." Toshiro answers, "Oh, I'm Tomas, by the way."
"Tyler." Tyler answers.
"Alright then." Toshiro answers.
"Tyler? Who's at the door?" Yattamori's voice yells from the background.
"Yattamori?" Toshiro yells back at her.
"Oh, Tomas is here?" Yattamori says, seeming to get closer.
"Yeah." Tyler says as he moves slightly, so Yattamori can see him.
Yattamori is wearing a red 80's tee matched with black skinny jeans, tan boots on her feet. Around her waist is a loose belt, imbellished with silver and gold studs, her earrings and and head accesories, her usual cross necklace strung around her neck.
"Sorry, I was downstairs. I'm just going to go get my bag and jacket 'kay?" Yattamori says.
"Uh, ok." Toshiro answers.
Yattamori grins.
"Kay, be right back." Yattamori says as she disappears.
Toshiro and Tyler stand awkwardly as Tyler kinda stares him down.
"So you're this Tomas guy I've been hearing about?" Tyler asks.
"I guess." Toshiro answers.
"Well, be careful with her." Tyler says, a warning tone to his voice.
"Uh-" Toshiro starts.
"Ready!" Yattamori says as she bursts back into the doorway, "Bye Mom, Dad, we'll be back in a little bit."
She grabs Toshiro's arm.
"C'mon idiot." Yattamori calls.
"Ya-Yattamori?!" Toshiro yells after her as she pulls him along.
"See you later Tyler." Yattamori calls over her shoulder.
"See ya." Tyler calls back as he shuts the door.
"He's intimidating." Toshiro comments.
"You think he's intimidating? You, of all people?" Yattamori asks.
"Never mind." Toshiro says.
"Well, alright then."
Suddenly, Yattamori flashsteps, jumping through the air from tree to tree.
"Yattamori?! What are you doing?!" Toshiro asks.
"What?" Yattamori asks, "This is the fastest way to get to the Old Navy."
"But we're in plain sight!-"
"No we're not, I made us invisible."
Toshiro looks away.
"Oh." Toshiro comments, before letting go of Yattamori, "I'm at least flashstepping on my own."
Yattamori chuckles.
"Alright."
Within minutes, they find themselves walking into the Old Navy outlet, many people walking through the store. Without knowledge, Yattamori takes his arm and leads him to the boys section.
"Why are we here?" Toshiro asks.
"To find you something to wear for the Christmas Service tonight." Yattamori says as she looks at a rack of black dress pants, "What size pants do you wear?"
"Uh, I don't know." Toshiro answers.
Yattamori groans, then picks out a random pant.
"Here, try these." Yattamori says as she walks over to dress shirt section.
"Why do I have to dress up for this?"
"Because, it's a formal occasion." Yattamori explains as she pulls out a blue sweater, a single white stripe running along the top, "This looks like something you would wear. Take it."
Toshiro takes it from her and sighs.
"This is confusing. Besides, I don't even know what to get you." Toshiro says.
Yattamori stops in mid search, then turns towards him.
"What?" she asks.
"Well, I don't really know what you want, so I don't know what to get you for Christmas."
Yattamori stares at him for a moment, before grinning.
"You idiot, you don't have to get me anything." Yattamori says.
"But I thought you had to."
"No, that's just what Cree said."
"Oh."
"Now, go try on this outfit." Yattamori says as she pushes him towards the dressing room.
"Alright." Toshiro answers.
After what feels like hours of trying on clothes, they finally decide on three outfits, so that he can decide on which he wants to wear later. Now, they're in the store next door, Books A Million (weird name), where Toshiro finds himself as Yattamori looks for a certain Manga in the manga section.
"What are you looking for?" Toshiro asks.
"I'm looking for something." Yattamori answers as she pulls out a manga.
"Ugh.." Toshiro groans.
"Found it!" Yattamori says as she pulls out a manga.
"What is it?" Toshiro asks.
"N-Nothing." Yattamori says.
"C'mon, show me." Toshiro asks.
Yattamori stares at him for a moment, before sighing.
"Fine, just...just don't freak out..." Yattamori says.
Toshiro raises and eyebrow.
"Al..right." Toshiro says.
She sighs again, and hands him the manga on the back, though the name 'BLEACH' strikes him strangely. And, the picture on the back takes him by surprise, the people familiar somehow.
"Turn it over." Yattamori says.
Toshiro sighs, and does as told, turning it over.
He gasps.
It's a drawn picture of himself.
"H-How.." Toshiro starts.
"I told you that I discovered the past because I saw you in the anime, remember?" Yattamori says.
"Yeah, but I didn't actually think that I was.." Toshiro trails off.
"It gets weirder." Yattamori says as she opens the manga to be on one of the first pages.
It's the page listing the characters of the manga. The first few are people he's never heard of, confusing him, but some are too familiar.
"Is that Momo?!" Toshiro asks.
Yattamori nods.
"And look." Yattamori says as she points at yet another picture of him, "They even used your real name."
"That says Toshiro Hitsugaya all right." Toshiro says, "I still don't know how the man who did this knew all about the Soul Society."
"I guess his mind was somehow linked to the Soul Society while he was creating it." Yattamori guesses.
"I suppose, but I still don't see how it's possible."
"Well, that's not important right now. Now go." Yattamori says as she pushes Toshiro towards the door.
---------
4 hours later
Yattamori's Car
Toshiro sighs as he looks out the window. Though a hard nudge brings him out of his daze.
"Wha-What?" Toshiro asks.
"Don't fall asleep stupid." Yattamori says.
"Madison, don't call people stupid." her father says.
"Yes Dad." Yattamori answers.
"So, Tomas is it?" her mom asks.
"That's right." Toshiro answers, lying.
"And how long have you known Madison?" her father asks.
"Uh, wow, well, it feels like a century." Toshiro answers.
Yattamori chuckles, getting the underlying truth in the joke.
"And, you both go to the same school?" her dad asks.
"That is correct." Toshiro answers.
"Are you dating Madison?" Yattamori's little sister asks.
"Abigail!" Yattamori yells, though dark, she's blushing.
Toshiro tries his best to look over her. Abigail is about seven inches shorter then Yattamori, and seems to have a unique personality. Her dark brown is to about the middle of her back, a little longer then Yattamori's at the moment, though she's technically Shecker. Her brown eyes are deep, and very large. And, from her expression compared to their mom, Abigail looks exactly like her mom, but only showing some resemblence to Yattamori and Tyler.
"No, sorry. We're just good friends." Toshiro answers.
"Abigail." Tyler says.
"Yeah?-" Abigail starts.
"-Be quiet." Tyler interupts.
"Hey, you can't tell me what to do-" Abigail starts again.
"-I'm older." Tyler interupts again.
"That doesn't make a difference!" Abigail yells.
"Yes it does." Tyler says.
"No it doesn't!" Abigail yells.
"Don't you just love my siblings?" Yattamori asks.
Toshiro chuckles.
"Yes, very entertaining." Toshiro whispers.
After a few minutes of watching, they find themselves in the parking lot of a large church.
"All right, let's get this over with." Toshiro says as he opens the door, not knowing what would happening next.
