Death and Reincarnation (Madison Shecker's Story) pt. 25

"...Why is it that everytime I bring up a guy, my friends think I'm dating someone? For all they know, I'm talking about trouble. But no, they go straight to the boyfriend crap. Gosh, why can't let me explain before they jump to that conclusion. Heck, I don't even have a crush at the moment at school or even outside of school. Their is no one on this Earth that makes me feel that blood-rushing, heart-pounding emotion that supposed to come out of being in love. But, saying that, there really is no one like that. In this world, at least...

BREAKFAST
Madison's Perspective
Madison and her usual lunch table (Cree, Anna, Virginia, Kaylee, Hannah, Bianca, and her) sit in their usual breakfast round table on the opposite side of the middle of the room then their lunch table, eating bicuits and sausage, the Wednesday breakfast. She thinks about how her brother had been in a great mood that morning and had been starring at her the whole time she had been eating, probably because of her nightly visit. The memory of her adventures with Tyler last night still surprised her, and she had known for a while now.
Madison smiles as she's sidetrack from her original thought and listens in on Virginia's conversation about how Cree had pinned her little brother, Jacob, down 18 times in less then 10 minutes after watching reruns of Wrestle Mania.
Slowly as they get to the 12th pin, Madison's mind drifts off back to what had been on her mind since she had gotten up. It has been a total of three days since she left the Soul Society. And, around now, she's beginning to become worried about things occuring there. Especially anything with Toshiro. The last thing she remembers is his voice running through her head, telling her to come back here so that she wouldn't have to be in more pain. Suddenly, a slap to her shoulder jolts her to the right, slamming her into Kaylee, who always sat by her in the mornings. Madison immediately wipps her head back around to face Cree, who's sitting on her left side.
"WHAT WAS THAT FOR?!" Madison yells.
"This is the 5th time this week you've started to zone out with a worried look on your face. Now, tell us what's wrong." Cree answers.
Madison looks surprised as everyone at the table shuts up and turns their ears so that they can hear every detail. She looks around and sighs.
...I guess I have no choice...
"Fine. Ok, I have a friend named Tomas who just moved back into town. But, a few days ago, a friend of his named Micheal got in a serious incident." Madison explains.
"What happened?" Kaylee asks.
"Stabbed with a poisonous blade." she answers.
"Well that's old-school." Bianca comments as she looks at her phone.
"Anyway, he's been in a coma for a while and even though I haven't talked to him since the day it happened, I have a feeling that Tomas is probably freaking out. I've tried to call, but he won't answer. So, ever since, I had no connection to him whatsoever. And, it's worrying me a lot." Madison finishes.
"This Tomas boy, how long have you known him?" Cree asks.
"Since I can remember." she answers.
"How old is he?" Virginia asks.
"Only 21 days younger."
"Wow." Hannah comments.
"Is he cute?" Anna asks.
Madison's cheeks immediately begin to redden.
...Ah, crap...
"What does that have to do with anything?!" she yells.
"We're gonna take that as a yes." Bianca says.
"Hey!" Madison yells.
"Ok, from all the info you've given us on Tomas...?" Virginia starts.
"White." answers Madison.
"...White. I think that you have been keeping a secret from us." she finishes.
Madison's heart skips a beat. They know about Yattamori?!
"You have a boyfriend and you never told us?!" Bianca yells.
"WHAT?!" Madison answers.
"I knew it! You've been hiding him from us this whole time, haven't you?!" Kaylee says.
"No!" Madison says, infuriated.
"C'mon Madison, don't try to hide it. We know when you're lying." Anna says, giggling.
"I am not!" she yells back.
"So, how long have you been dating Tomas?" Bianca asks.
"Never!" Madison answers.
"Is he nerdy or a jock?" Kaylee asks.
"I'm not dating him!" Madison says.
She suddenly feels her eyes beginning to spark blue. As Cree notices, Madison jumps from her seat, runs from the table and to the doors of the cafeteria, covering her face so no one would notice.
"Hold it!" a stern voice says.
Madison turns to see Mrs. Weire, the school counselor, staring at her.
"Where are you going?" Mrs. Weire asks.
"The bathroom." Madison answers.
"Oh, go ahead then."
"Thanks." Madison says as she begins to open the door.
"Wait, one more thing." Mrs. Weire says.
"What?"
"I don't remember your eyes being such a pretty light blue. They seem to be glowing. And I didn't notice you were growing out your hair." Mrs. Weire complements.
...Crap!..
"Thanks, they're just color contacts and extensions." Madison lies as she runs out the door, trying to avoid a full conversation.
As she runs, she feels her hair beginning to bounce against her lower shoulder blades. When she reaches the turn to the bathroom entrance she sighs, releaved, and slows as she enters. As she finds herself staring at a weird reflection of herself, she groans then turns and walks quickly into a stall, closing the door behind her. She sits as she tries to remember what Mamori told her. As she does, she feels her hair beginning to receid as she thinks about her specific person. Following, the power in her fades, along with her eyes and she grins, happy she avoided another awkward scene.
Suddenly as she finally feels her hair get back to the orginal length, the bell rings, making her gasp in absolute releaf, seeing as how now she won't have to go back to her irritating friends.
-------------------------------------------------------
LUNCH
It feels strange at the table as they all eat silently, still stunned by their morning's occurances. Though, Cree and Virginia weren't in the moods to play along with the rest of them.
"Madison, is he your boyfriend?" Virginia asks.
"Not that again." Madison comments.
"Please, at least let us see him." Cree says.
"See?"
"Yeah, you have a pic, don't you?" Kaylee asks,
"Yeah-"
"Then let us see! I want to see what exactly this guy looks like." Virginia says, skooting closer to her.
"Uh..."
...I don't really have a pic of him, just drawings...and I bet they would be really taken back by a picture of a boy with white and turquiose eyes...and wearing a kimono and a sword...wait! I got an idea...
"Sure..."
Slowly Madison starts to picture a guy. He has shagy blonde hair with warm green eyes, and is perfectly in physical condition. And, she admits that he's totally hot. Suddenly, something begins to stick out of Madison's hand which is beneath the table on her lap. She looks down and opens it, her eyes widening.
It's a picture of the boy she just imagined, in a soccer uniform. Dang, he's hot. Within the next second, Virginia notices and snatches it from Madison.
"Hey!" Madison yells.
"No wonder you like him, this guy is fine!" Virginia says as she shows it to everyone else.
"Dito."
"Perfect."
"10."
"Hott."
"Adorable." Hannah, Kaylee, Bianca, Anna, and Cree say at the same time.
"And you don't like him, why?" Virginia asks.
Madison blushes and looks away.
"I never said I didn't like him..." Madison says.
"What!" the rest of the table says.
"Can we forget about this, please?" Madison asks as she snatches the picture away from her friends.
"Ah, but you were just getting personal. C'mon man." Cree says.
"No is no, and that's final." Madison says as she looks down at the picture.
She smiles at the grinning boy. If this boy is really just a made-up version of Toshiro, then she might have a problem. If she keeps a small promise, then Toshrio will become Tomas White, and man, will it be awkward...

SOUL SOCIETY
Toshiro walks alone on the cobble path through the high snow. He looks up at the sky and sighs, seeing that it's about to snow more in the near future, probably over night or even before then. The clouds are luckily not covering the sunset, which looks beautiful against the pure white snow. The scene brings back many memories from when he was growing up in Junrinon with Yattamori and Hinamori. Especially when they played hide and seek in the snow, which he always won, seeing how his hair blended in.
His mind suddenly turns back to the reason he is walking now in the first place. He flashsteps towards his location and gets there within minutes, and smiles when he sees that no one is visiting at this time too. He slowly opens the door to the dark room and looks in, to see the same thing that he's seen everyday for a while. He walks in and closes the door behind him, not turning on the light. He steps silently over to the bed on the other side of the room and picks up a glass of water that sits on the table at the head of the bed. Then he turns back toward the bed and lifts the sleeping person and begins to give the water to her by holding it to her lips, which she sips quietly, though still unconscious. After most of the drink is gone, he sits the glass back on the table and stares at the person, then sighs.
Without thinking, he takes her hand and squizzes tightly. He then leans over to where his lips are close to her ear.
"Day 24, Yattamori. Hope you wake up soon. And and early Happy New Year to you..." he whispers.

Death and Reincarnation (Madison Shecker's Story) pt. 24

"...Who invented Math? Seriously, I know that it's helpful once in a while, but still. Well, this is just perfect, how in the world does Tyler understand some, if not all of it. Now I know why he's doing so bad, because 11th grade math sucks. I mean, I barely understand it. But, in another state of mind, it makes complete sense! I must of known a lot when I was Yattamori, seeing as how whenever I see a problem, another voice calls out the way and answer of the question. So, how can I tell Tyler how to answer without revealing Yattamori?...

OUR WORLD
Madison's Perspective
As Madison opens the door to her house, she sighs, releaved to finally be away from curious classmates. Ever since her incident yesterday with Amanda in Gym, her friends and other students keep on wanting info on how she did it, where she learned it from, and how she cut Amanda's sword, not to mention her hair. Though, so far, the weirdest question was one that she got from a few of her friends. They kept asking how her eyes turned blue. Blue? Well, this sucks. The only reason her eyes were glowing was because she was letting out a bit of Yattamori and/or spritual pressure. That;s about i. But, she knows that if she even tries to explain it, her friends would think she was playing around and wouldn't take her seriously.
Irritated grunts from the kichen broke Madison's thoughts, and Madison quickly went in to investigate. Madison rounds the corner of the hall to find Tyler, her 16 year-old (17 in 22 days, yes, he was born on Christmas) brother, looking absolutly confused as he stared down at a school book at the kichen table in the dining area of the room. She's surprised, considering Tyler is usually at his girlfriends or at practice her soccer or football (depending on the season).
Tyler looks up and finally notices her.
"Hi." Madison says.
"Hey." Tyler answers.
Awkward.
"What are you doing home? Don't you have practice for indoor soccer?" she asks as she walks passed the granite counter, entering the square kichen area and open the fridge.
"I did." Tyler says, his voice slightly more irritated on the word "did".
"Did?" Madison repeats.
"I wasn't allowed to go to practice."
"Why's that?"
"None of your buisness."
"C'mon, tell me."
"No."
"Did you do something?" Madison asks as she closes the door to the fridge, revealing a coke in her fist.
"Sorta."
"What?"
"I'm going to be kicked off the team because I'm slipping up in Math, ok? You happy? You know now, now back off." Tyler says as he looks back down at the book.
"Aren't they gonna give you another chance?" she asks as she opens her coke.
"Yeah, there's a test tomorrow, and if I do well, I'll raise my grade high enough to stay on the team. But geometry is tougher then it looks."
"Oh, c'mon, how hard can geometry be?"
Tyler looks up at her, and folds his arms across his chest. Ah, crap.
"Really? Fine, you come over here and look at it." Tyler says as he nods his head at the book.
Madison sighs and walks over to look over the page. On it, are letters and numbers, as well as instructions.
Find h(x) f(x)= x^2 g(x)=4x-6
#1.h(x) = f(x) - g(x)
#2.h(x) = g(f(x))
Madison feels her brain go into a complete spiral. What the heck are they talking about? What does the ^ do? And what's x?
A flash a blue sheens over her eyes.
...#1.h(x) = f(x) - g(x) = x^2 -(4x-6)...h(x)= x^2-4x+6....
Her voice floats across her mind in complete confidence.
"h(x)= x^2 -4x +6..." Madison says.
"What?" Tyler says.
"The answer is h(x)= x^2 -4x+6."
"That's right." Madison hears a voice from behind her.
Tyler and she turn to se their mom standing at the entrance of the dining area.
"You're kidding." Tyler says, surprised by Madison's correct answer.
"And number 2 is h(x) = 4(x^2)-6 or 4x^2-6." Madison says, pointing at the problem.
"That's also right." her mom says as she looks at a calculator that she had gotten out before they had noticed her.
Madison's eyes widen as she senses her eyes begin to change. Yattamori is beginning to seep through, explaining her sudden burst of knowledge.
Tyler turns and looks at their in shock and a little amazment as Madison hurries away from the room towards her bedroom, quickly shutting the door after her. She tries to blink as her breathing begins to slow. She holds herself in her arms as she looks over to see her reflection in the mirror. She's wearing a gray jacket over a belted, dark purple, short-sleeved shirt, matched with dark washed skinny jeans and silver converse. Her hair is parted far on the left side, allowing her to put her bangs to the side of her right cheek, unlike infront of one of her hazel eyes like she does in the Soul Society (A place she still can't contact, grrr).
She looks herself straight in the eye and gasps.
Her usual haxel eyes have a blue glow to them, and Madison can swear that her hair is growing longer by the second, the two clumps of hair she keeps out of her ponytail starting to grow out of her mass of wavy, chestnut hair. Around her neck, Madison sees her circle pendant begining to form, reminding her of how much worry she must be causing Toshiro right about now.
Shje grabs her head and slids down the side of the door to put her head inbetween her legs.
"Please stop, I don't want them to know. Go away, Yattamori. Please, let me stay normal here." Madison says quietly into her legs as she notices the familar silkiness of her choker, which symbolizes her relationship with her zampakutou, Mamori Koudoutai, who she hadn't seen since her duel with Cree.
Mamori Koudoutai! Maybe she knows how to stop the change!
Madison gets up and runs to her bed, quickly placing herself under the covers so that if she changed completely, her mom wouldn't see. She puts her hands together as if she is praying and tightly closes her eyes.
"Please Mamori, hear me and come here. I need your guidance." Madison says.
Slowly, Madison feels her hair, which is now down to below her waist, begin to blow, even though her head is under covers.
Then, she smiles and sighs when she she hears the beating of hooves and neighing next to her bed, the sound of folding wings in the background. She quickly pulls back the covers to see the 10 foot tall white pegasus Mamori standing right next to her bed, her warm eyes starring down at her.
"You called." Mamori says without moving her lips.
"Ok, how do I stop this!" Madison says as she points at her, which is now almost to her hips.
"Um, alright. How many times has this happened?" Mamori asks.
"The eyes, 3. Everything else, it's new."
"Ok, try to concentrate on a specific person. Now, whenever you have this happen, think of that person."
Madison nods and closes her eyes, thinking of one person. As she does, she feels the hair begin to recede to the bottom of her shoulder blades and the power in her eyes fade. She sighs as she reopens her eyes and turns towards the mirror to see her usual self as her reflection. Her hair is normal and her eyes are back to hazel.
"Is that better?" Mamori asks.
"Much, thanks." Madison says as she lays bck on her bed.
She stares up at the ceiling, then Mamori interupts her thoughts.
"What's on your mind?" Mamori says as she lays next to Madison's bed, her wings folding to her flanks.
"Well, it's Tyler-"
"Your brother?"
"Yeah, he's struggling with math. And because of it, he might not be able to play soccer."
"That's a shame."
"It is. And the only way that he'll be able to continue is if he does well on a big test tomorrow. But, from the looks of it, he doesn't understand half of the info."
"So, what are you going to do about it?"
"Me? Are you kidding, he wouldn't want my help even if it would help him gain immortality, not to mention math problems."
"Madison, I know you have a strained relationship with your brother, but you still have to help him when he needs it, especially when something immportant to him is on the line. You can't let passed differences interfere with what's right."
Madison looks away and sighs, thinking about Mamori's look on it. She then turns back to look into pale brown eyes. She sits up in the bed in begins to pet Mamori's face.
"So, what are my options?" Madison says as she smiles.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
11:27 p.m.
Tyler's Perspective
A grunt of irritation rises in Tyler's throat as he looks over more math equations at his desk in his room. So far, he only understands about 60% of the info that he's gone over, and it's starting to annoy him.
Maybe Madison would understand this...
The thought causes Tyler to slam his book shut. He still doesn't understand how Madison was able to solve the equation that he couldn't. At first, she looked absolutly confused like him, but then, something seemed to come over her and she worked it out within seconds. It was strange, but for second after Mom walked in, she seemed, different. Her hair was a little different, and her eyes were...
"Ok, there's no way her eyes were blue." Tyler says as he rubs his head.
He gets up from the desk and turns off his desk lamp.
"I think all this studying all day has made me on edge. I need to get some sleep if I want to at least get a D on the test." Tyler says as he gets under the covers of his bed, already in his night wear.
He quickly turns off the light next to his bed and closes his eyes. For a few minutes it's silent, but after the clock turns 11:35, a strange sensation filled the air.
"What the-" Tyler begins to say.
Suddenly, his room begins to contort, until his no longer in his room and is floating in a void.
"Where the heck am I?!" Tyler says as he looks around the area.
"You're in the space between your reality..." a familar voice says.
Tyler turns to see a girl that looks very similar to Madison, floating about five feet away from him, her arms crossed in front of her chest. Her hair is chestnut brown and wavy, held up in a high ponytail by a lime green ribbon, bangs covering her right eye and thick strands of hair all that hang down, covering her ears. Her eyes are glowing a slight blue. Similar to what Madison's looked like. She's has a leather string necklace with a green, quarter-sized pendant hanging about six inches from her neck, along with a pink ribbon choker with another lime green gem attached to it around the base of her neck. She wears a pink, sleeveless, over-thing over a kimono with black curly-lined designs and black trimming, lime green arm bands transending from underneath the sleeves of the kimono, along with sandals worn over white sock-like things on her feet.
"And my reality." the girl finishes.
"Ok, 1, where am I, and 2, who the heck are you?" he asks.
"I just said 1, and 2...you can just call me Yattamori." she answers.
"Alright, Yattamori, why am I here?"
"Answer this first."
"What?"
"Find h(x) if f(x)= x^2 and g(x)=4x-6. h(x) = g(f(x))."
"You're asking me math problems?"
"Answer, and I'd hurry, or else."
"What do you mean?"
Yattamori grabs a bow and arrow from thin air and pulls it back hard, then releases it, aiming it high above his head. Suddenly he feels a jerk on his back and he notices Yattamori is now higher then him. He looks up to see an almost invisible rope attached to him and hanging from high in the void.
"You see, everytime you answer incorrectly, I'll shoot an arrow at the rope, causing you to go lower. If you get one right, I'll repair the rope and you'll rise higher, but I'll in return go lower. Then, if you take too long, the same would happen as if you got it wrong. This will occur 5 times, meaning I'll only ask 5 questions."
"So, what happens if I'm lower then you?" he asks.
She points down, Tyler following her finger, and he gasps. Below are sharp rocks and pits of lava, boiling at temperatures that seem to fiction to be a reality.
"If you loose, you'll fall into that pit down there."
"You're joking. That's crazy, one of us will die!"
"I suggest you get as many as you can correct, or else, you'll be leaving this reality."
Tyler gulps as he looks back down at the pit, then breaths a deep breath and looks back up at Yattamori.
"Repeat the first question again."
"So, you accept?" she asks.
"Just repeat the question!"
"Alright, find h(x) if f(x)= x^2 and g(x)=4x-6. h(x) = g(f(x))." she repeats, "You get 2 minutes to answer."
Tyler finds his mind jumbling as he creates a mental picture of the equation in his head. After what seems like eternity, the wheels in his head begin to turn.
Ok, so, g(x) is pretty much 4x-6 and x is x^2. So when combined as g(f(x)), the equation becomes 4(x^2)-6. Or is it 4(x^2)-4? Or is it -3? Dang it, I'm becoming jumbled again.
Suddenly, he felt himself jerk. He looks up to see the bow back in Yattamori's hands, already released. she looks back down at him as the bow n' arrow once again disappears.
"Your time is up. The correct answer is 4x^2-6." she says.
"I didn't even get passed the third step!"
"Then you're going to have to think faster. Next question." Yattamori says, "Amy has an income which is 5/8 of Erik's. Amy expenses are 1/2 those of Erik's, and Amy saved 40% of his income. What's the percentage of how much he saves?"
Tyler grins. He was great at these.
It's easy, just use the equations needed, then multiply it by .4, then one more equation....
"It's 25% percent!" Tyler yells.
Yattamori's expressionless frown turns to a impressed grin as she raises her hands toward his rope. Then, with a slight tug, he's pulled back up, as Yattamori lowers slightly.
"Very good, next question." she says, "A ladder leans against a vertical wall. The top of the ladder is 7m above the ground. When the bottom of the ladder is moved 1m farther away from the wall, the top of the ladder rests against the foot of the wall. What is the length of the ladder?"
"That's easy." Tyler says.
All you need to do is use the pythagorean theorem...
"It's 25 meters." he answers.
"Correct." Yattamori says as she lowers, now equal with him.
"Yes!"
"Next question. I'm thinking of a number. It is an odd number with three digits. All the digits are different and add up to 12. The difference between the first two digits equals the difference between the last two digits. What is the number?"
Tyler's brain freezes. He's bad at these.
"Uh, umm..."
I don't know any numbers like that...
"It's 660."
Yattamori's bow appears.
He got it wrong.
Again, he slips and Yattamori gets higher. His mind begins to freeze. If he doesn't get the next one right, he's dead.
"Sorry, the answer was 741. Last question." she says, "What is f(x) - g(x) if f(x)= x^2 and g(x)=4x-6?"
Tyler blinks in surprise.
I know the answer...
"x^2 -4x+6..." he says.
Yattamori smiles.
"That right!" she says as he is raised.
Tyler smiles back until he notices their positions. Since he got it right, they should be parallel to each other. But, instead, Yattamori is about a foot lower. Meaning...
She lost.
Suddenly, Tyler hears a loud snap.
"You played my game and won. Congrats." Yattamori says.
"Yattamori!" Tyler yells as he grabs for as she begins to fall.
Luckily, he just barely grabs her hand, saving her.
He sighs as Yattamori stares up at him in surprise.
"What?" he asks.
"Why...?" she asks, confusion in her voice.
"Why what?"
"Why did you save me? You almost faced death because of me."
"But, you helped me feel more confident about my position in math and I think I'm a little braver now because of this."
"But-"
"No buts, you helped me. Heck, even Madison helped me today, so I guess I should thank both of you."
She gasps in surprise. Slowly her eyes turn hazel, just like Madison's...
"Tyler..." she says, her voice sounding exactly like Madison's.
His eyes widen.
No...way..
Neighing from below pulls Tyler from his thoughts and causes him to look down in amazement.
With great speed a majestic creature flys up from the disappearing pit of despair and whizzes past them. The animal causes Yattamori to smile and laugh.
"Mamori, come get us, will you." Yattamori yells.
"Mamori?"
Suddenly the large beast comes to float next Yattamori. Tyler's eyes widen as he sees that the creature is a white pegasus, his sister's favorite mythical animal. Yattamori lets go of his hand and plops onto the winged horse's back hugging it as she giggles. She looks up at him when she notices he hasn't done the same. The horse flys higher, putting Yattamori at his height. She reaches out her hand.
"C'mon, she won't bite." Yattamori says.
Tyler nods and places himself behind Yattamori on the Pegasus' back. The horse whinnies happily as Yattamori pats it on the neck. She then turns back towards him.
"Hold on tight."
"Kay." Tyler says as he reaches around her to grab the horses white mane.
She nods as she turns back. She suddenly kicks at the horsees sides.
"Return us to his world." Yattamori says as the horse begins to fly.
The horse replies with a neigh and begins to beat it's wings at full force, causing Tyler to tighten his grip.
He closes eyes tight, then meets a great darkness.

December 4th, 2010
3:18 a.m.
Madison and Mamori stand at the foot of Tyler's bed, where he sleeps soundly, returning to world of his dreams.
"Well, that should help him with his test tomorrow." Madison says.
"I told you that entering his mind in dream state would work." Mamori says, her wings folding back to brush her flanks again.
"You were right, ok. I admit it. Thank you." Madison replies.
"You're welcome." Mamori says as she disappears.
"Goodbye, Mamori." Madison says as the last speck of Mamori vanishes.
She turns back to look at Tyler. His words running through her head.
No buts, you helped me. Heck, even Madison helped me today, so I guess I should thank both of you...
Madison smiles and chuckles quietly.
"You finally said thank you...and it was that situation..." Madison says as she begins to walk out of the room.
When she reaches for the door knob, she turns back to Tyler.
"You're welcome...good night, and good luck..." Madison says as she opens the door, then walks out, closing the door silently behind her.

Death and Reincarnation (Madison Shecker's Story) pt. 23

"...Why is it that everywhere I go now I'm surrounded by something that reminds me of the Soul Society? Seriously, I go to History class, and we talk about battle stratigies. I go to reading, and we're reading a romantic tragedy set in Feudal Japan. And in Science, we're discussing the genes of asian cultures, like why their eyes are all squinty and stuff. And when I finally thought I would get a break in gym, this happens. Of all times, Mr. Chiado just had to do it. Oh, well, I might as well enjoy this period. I mean, it isn't everyday that you get in a sword fight with one of your best friends in P.E., right? But still, I don't want to reveal anything about my altar ego, I wouldn't want my life in this world complicated too. Though, I don't know what to think about what just happened...

Anna, Bianca, Cree, Hannah, Kaylee, Madison, and Virginia sit at their usual round table in the middle of the cafeteria. The seven girls sit in complete silence, probably sensing that Madison wasn't in a great mood. The reason? She didn't get an ounce of sleep over fretting about what was happening in the Soul Society. Though, she knew not to throw that detail out to her friends. They would think she was crazy. So, she sits quietly, sketching in her drawing pad. A picture of herself, in the other world, of course. It was creepy how close her sketch resembled her reflection in the other world. She tried to keep the thought out of her mind as she tediously drew in the curly line pattern on the kimono. So far, though, only Cree had thought it looked a little like her, so she was safe.
Virginia gets annoyed quickly by the quiet table, especially Madison.
"What's wrong with you today Madison? You're usually bouncing off the walls with laughter by now." Virginia comments as she takes a sip of her chocolate milk, breaking Madison's thoughts.
"Did something happen after you got home from the hospital?" Anna asks as she throws Madison her slim jim,  Madison's favorite lunch-time treat, to her from the other side of Cree.
"Or did you mess up on another of your imaginary boyfriend drawings?" Bianca comments from directly across from Madison, inspecting her newly manicured nails.
"Guys, leave her alone. She might still be on antibiotics and just doesn't feel super peppy." Cree interjects from Madison's left side, defending her.
Cree is the tom-boy of the group, other then Virginia, and is Native American (you can tell by her name). She has really long brown hair with blonde highlights, a braid usually intertwined. She wears cute purple rectangle speck glasses, and is known for wearing the cutest tees. Cree's character is easy to decribe. A friend for a life and someone who will keep you on the right track, or will punch you in the arm if you step off. But, she's truely a kind and caring friend and person in general.
Madison grins weakly.
"Thanks, I just didn't get much sleep last night is all." Madison says.
"It was just a joke, you don't have to be so edgy Kateri." Virginia comments from Madison's right side, calling Cree by her last name.
"Well, you know that she just got out of the hospital yesterday, so you shouldn't be saying stuff like that." Cree says.
"Whatever." Virginia says as she takes a bite of her burger.
"It's not just whatever, and you know that!" Cree says to Virginia behind Madison's chair.
Did she forget to mention that when it comes to Virginia, she has a short temper?
"Oh, great, it's their daily lunch fight." Kaylee remarks from Anna's left side as Cree and Virginia begin to yell at each across Madison's seat at the table.
"They do this everyday, you would think we would be used to it by now." Bianca says, taking a sip of her water.
"And yet we aren't. Man, now it's just annoying." Hannah comments from inbetween Bianca and Virginia, looking over her book to roll her eyes at the still fighting couple.
"Dido."
"I second that."
"Same here."
"Agreed." Madison, Kaylee, Anna, and Bianca say at the same time.
"May I have everyone's attention please?" a male's voice says from the speakers above.
Everyone, including Cree and Virginia, immediately shut up as Mr. Chiado, all their P.E. teacher, begins to speak again.
"As you all who are in my class know, I've been trying to decide on a new activity to do in P.E. especially for 8th graders. And, I believe I've found something that is perfect." Mr. Chiado says into the mic.
All the girls at the table look at each other.
"I bet it's biking or bowling." Cree says.
"No way, that's done too much. I bet he's taking us to swim at one of the high schools." Virginia says.
"If that were true, why is he just telling us today? We would of needed to know before now so that we would of known to bring bathing suits." Cree says.
"Shut up for a minute, you two, and listen." Bianca says.
"So, I've decided, with permission from Dr. Nitts, that today in 8th and 9th hour, my classes will learn how to battle with Katanas!" Mr. Chiado yells.
Madison's eyes widen.
"Huh?" Bianca says.
"What?" Hannah says.
"What the heck is a Katana?" Virginia asks.
"A Katana is a sword used back in feudal Japan by samurais and ninjas." Madison explains.
Mamori Koudoutai, her own Katana, flashes threw her mind.
"Swords?! Since when does Dr. Nitts allow weapons at school?" Anna says.
"Don't worry, they're plastic, so none of you will be in any danger of being hurt." Mr. Chiado finishes, "See you in Gym!"
"Oh, good, that scared me for a minute." Kaylee says, sighing in relief.
"What, afraid that you'd be cut open?" Virginia asks, laughing.
"Yes! Have you ever even seen a sword? They're dangerous and sharp, not to mention deadly." Kaylee  replies.
Madison looks away from her quarrelling friends. This might not be good. Since Madison now is interfused with the memories of her past life, Yattamori, she now knows all the tactics when using a sword, especially a katana. So, she had to be careful to not go over the top while dueling a classmate. Even though they're plastic, with a good thrust, she could still cause injury to one of her friends.
8th period
Madison, Cree, Virginia, and Kaylee sit on the stands in the gym, waiting to take attendance for class. Madison's heart is beating fast. She's nervous about the matches.
"Scared?" Madison hears Cree ask.
"No, more nervous then anything." Madison replies as she looks at Cree.
"Nervous?" Cree repeats.
"About who I'll have to duel."
"Oh, well, since no one's never even probably held a sword before, it'll be a fair match." Cree says, apparently trying to reassure her.
"No, I've used a katana before. And I'm pretty advance in many tactics to win duels. I'm just nervous about letting that all out."
"Since when does your mom let you swing a sword around?"
"It's complicated.
"Ok class! Before we start, I want to know who's ever done something like this before." Mr. Chiado yells, ending Madison and Cree's ackward conversation.
Madison raises her hand, and is surprised when three others also raise theirs, including Cree. One especially catches her eye. Amanda Stranks, the self-proclaimed most popular girl in school. Madison and her friends didn't like her, they think she's just a big bully.
"They must fense." Virginia says.
"Alright, you four come down and help me give examples." Mr. Chiado says.
Madison, Cree, Amanda, and a boy named Austin get up and move to the front of the class.
"Alright, each of you take a sword and take a position across from one of the other people up here." he instructs as he points to a pin full of fake katanas in leather sheaths.
Madison takes a sword, gripping the nostalgic hilt in one hand then the middle of the sheath, and moves to one end of the group. Madison turns back to find Amanda across from Cree and Austin across from her. Perfect. She wouldn't have to restrain herself too much. Her Soul Reaper instints are beginning to take over as she places the short sheath in a loop attached to the elastic band of her gym shorts, pulls the blade out and grips the hilt with both hands, the sword straight up and down as she holds it about five inches from her hips.
"Madison has done the correct stance, everyone take note on how she's holding the handle-"
"It's called a hilt." Madison says.
"Oh, as she's holding the hilt, sorry." Mr. Chiado says, "Now, please begin the example duels. Duel!"
Austin runs straight at Madison with his sword held above his head, an amature beginning move. Madison steps to the side as Austin thusts his sword down. As he turns back, Madison flicks her sword around Austin's sword with her right hand then jerks, causing the hilt to fly from his grip and land on the floor. Before he can get to it, Madison has her fake sword's point to Austin's neck, indicating her victory. She slowly lowers her arm and turns back, to see Mr. Chiado and many of the others staring at her with amazement. Especially Virginia and Kaylee. She silently returns her sword to her sheath and winks at her friends, making them smile.
"Point-Madison." Mr. Chiado says.
Madison smiles, happy that she's finally done well at something in P.E..
"Ah!" she hears Cree yell.
Madison turns to see Cree on the ground with Amanda standing close, smirking.
"Cree!" Madison yells as she runs over to Cree's side.
Cree's closed eyes twitch, telling Madison that she was in pain. Madison places her hand on Cree's right arm, then jerks it back when she feels something gooey and wet. She inspects her hand and gasps. Blood. She looks back down to see a good sized gash on Cree's arm. The cut is clean and precise, telling Madison that she had been cut with Amanda's blade.
"She was so slow, I couldn't stop. I can see why though, seeing how round she is." Madison hears Amanda comment from behind her.
"How dare you say that!" Madison yells at Amanda as she turns to face her.
"Well, it's true." Amanda says, "She looks as if she has never worked out in her life."
"She's as skinny as a twig!" Madison counters.
"To most, yes, but to me, she's as large as an elephant."
"Why you!" Madison says, snearing.
"What are you going to do about it-"
"Get in your starting stance..." Madison says as she turns back around.
"Huh?" Amanda says, confused.
"Cree ojokutsokeru so kizutsukeru tameni pei munearo..." Madison says as she pulls her sword swiftly from her sheath.
"I don't know what you just said, put if you want to duel, I'll duel." Amanda says as she gets into her beginning stance, her sword in a perfect held position.
Cree sits up with help from Virginia and Kaylee as Mr. Chiado dashes over with a first-aid kit.
"Before we start, I must warn you. If you rank us in experience, I would be an expert, and you would probably be a beginner." Madison says as she turns back to face Amanda, her eyes closed.
"Such big talk, but you saw the way I took out your friend, now lets try it with you!" Amanda yells as she runs towards Madison, officially beginning the duel.
"Don't say I didn't warn you..." Madison says as she opens her eyes, her sword still held at her side.
Cree's and Virginia's eyes widen, seeing a familar blue glow to Madison's eyes.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cree's Perspective
Cree watches as Amanda closes in on Madison. She glances over at Madison. She looks bored, but confident and a bit angry. The usual hazel part of her eyes shine a light blue, like the did during there run-in yesterday with Kimmi at the hospital. Cree starts to get an uneasy feeling.
Unlike Austin, Amanda begins by holding her sword to the left side of her body, a good starting stance. As she comes to be next to Madison, she swings her sword around to meet Madison's sword with a loud bang, like when you thrust a pool noodle onto to still water (no lie). Amanda's eyes widen when she finally sees Madison's eyes, but quickly gets over it and goes for another quick thrust, just to be cut short by Madison's blade. As they continue this pattern, Cree looks around to see everyone staring at Madison, including Mr. Chiado. The only one who isn't is Kaylee, who's wrapping a gahs around her injured arm.
Cree has to admit, she never thought Madison was very good at anything athletic. Madison isn't a super active person, and likes to sketch better then sweat. If she was good at anything athletic, she could stand a good chance at beating someone at soccer, only because her brother has been playing it since he was three and it her family's second favorite sport, racing being first.
But, as soon as Madison took hold of that sword, it  was like she became a different person, a more confident person.
Cree soon turns her attention back to the fight, listening closely to what the two while saying inbetween combat.
"Will you just stop trying to delay my attacks and just accept defeat. Face it, all you can do if perry my attacks, sooner or later, you'll be out of options." Amanda says.
"No way Amanda, you hurt my friend and you're gonna pay for it." Madison says as her eyes begin to glow brighter for a second.
Suddenly, Madison steps out of the way of Amanda's next attack and begins to go on offense, swinging her sword swiftly and fast. Amanda's sword just barely has chances to perry Madison's attacks. A minute later, they come to be in a sword lock, gritting their teeth at each other.
"I don't lose, and I'm gonna make sure it stays that way!" Amanda says.
While Mr. Chiado isn't looking, Amanda slides her left foot behind Madison's right foot and jerks it back, causing Madison to trip. Cree gasps as Madison begins to fall. But, in mid-fall, Cree sees Madison do something unexpected.
She grins.
Before she hits the ground Madison puts her arms out and flips back up in a back hand spring, her sword still in her fist. Everyone gasps in amazement as Madison stands straight up, her expression looks mature and serious.
"So, that's how you did it..." Madison says.
"What?" Amanda asks.
"That's how you defeated Cree."
"Madison, what are you talking about?" Mr. Chiado asks.
You thought you were going to win until I began to actually fight back, and when our swords locked, you tried to trip me and catch me off guard by thrusting your sword at me, initially ending the duel and making you the victor. You used that exact tactic on Cree, inwhich it was successful and you ended up injuring her. If I had not been able to catch mysekf, you might of injured me as well. But, you don't care, just as long as you stay the victor, even if you do it by cheating." Madison explains, looking at Amanda as she talks.
Amanda snears furiously at Madison and holds her sword out to the left side as she begins to run at Madison.
"Shut up!" Amanda says.
Cree's eyes widen as the plastic sword in Madison sword begins to morph into a longer sword, the hilt now curved like a candy cane at the end, a pearl and a pink ribbon, connecting to another pearl, hanging from the end. Cree gasps to herself.
The blade is real.
Cree's attention is pulled away by the sound of Madison's bored sigh. She looks over to see that Madison's bangs hve fallen in front of her right eye.
"Mamori, let's end this..." Madison says to herself as she grips the sword with both hands.
Mamori...?
As Amanda starts to thrust her sword across, Madison whips her sword to her left side.
"Amanda, you lose." Madison says as she thrusts her sword across the blade of Amanda's sword.
When Amanda comes to stop a few feet from Madison, they stay silent for a moment. Then, suddenly, the blade of Amanda's sword falls off. Amanda gasps as she holds up the severed hilt, her eyes wide in shock. Then, half of her side bangs float to the gound, causing Amanda to finally crack and scream, dropping the hilt. The other kids in the room then begin to hoot and holler, amazed by what had just happened.
Cree looks at Mr. Chiado and Virginia, to see their jaws dropped and dumb-founded stares stuck on their faces.
"How did she do that with just a plastic sword?" Mr. Chiado says.
Cree looks at him in surprise.
"That sword isn't plastic, it's real." Cree says.
Virginia and Mr. Chiado looks at her like she's stupid.
"No Cree, those are fake swords, they're all exactly the same, anyway." Virginia says.
"But that's not true, Madison's has a curved green hilt with a ribbon attached."  Cree says as she points towards Madison's sword.
"Cree, what are you talking about? There's no sword with a curved green hilt." Mr. Chiado says as he looks at Madison's sword.
Cree looks surprised and turns to look at the sword Madison is holding. It was just how she'd seen it before, a curved green hilt with a pink ribbon. It was so obvious, so why didn't Virginia and Mr. Chiado acknoledge it?
Am I the only one who can see it...?
Mr. Chiado gets up and walks over to Madison.
"Match-Madison." Mr. Chiado says.
The other kids applaud as Madison smiles. Cree's breath catches as she turns to look at her. She relaxes when she sees that Madison's eyes are back to normal. Madison walks over quickly to her.
"You ok now?" Madison asks.
Cree nods. She quickly looks over to see Madison's sword back to being plastic, which intriged her.
Madison smiles even bigger, making Cree feel even more normal. Madison was back.
"Now, time for the next match." Cree says as she stands up.
Madison looks at her, confused.
"Next match?" she restates.
Cree nods.
"The match between you and me."
"What?!"
"You and I duel, right now."
"Cree are you crazy, you were just injured five minutes ago!"
"It was only a scratch, c'mon, what are you so worried about? Afraid that I'm gonna beat you?"
Harsh "oos" and "burn"s come from the kids watching from the sides. Cree grins. She knows all too well that Madison doesn't like taunting.
"No, it's not like that, it's just-"
"Just what? Just that you're too scared to admit I might be better then you?"
The kids repeat. Madison begins to become irritated.
"Cree, stop-"
"Stop what? Telling the truth?"
Now kids begin calling Madison to accept. Anger seems to begin building inside Madison.
"Cree, I'm warning you-"
"That if I fight you, it's gonna be boring, for me?"
That makes the kids go wild and Madison crack. Her eyes begin to glow blue again, anger in her eyes. She turns from Cree.
"Get into your starting stance." Madison says as she picks up another sword and throws it over her head, it landing perfectly in Cree's hands.
Kids begin to holler happily, some shouting specific things, like; "Beat her Madison!", "Show her who's the true master Cree!", "Kick her to the curb, Madison!" Most were for Madison to beat her butt.
Mr. Chiado comes to the middle as Cree turns back to see Madison in her stance, staring her down like an angry bull. He raises his arm.
"Duel!" he yells as he thrusts his arms down.
For the first time, Madison actually advances, just as Cree does the same. With a loud crash, their swords clash together then bounce off each other. Cree stumbles back from the inpact. Madison takes the chance to thrust her sword down onto Cree's. She quickly dodges, stepping to the right as the sword fell inches from her body. She turns back and thrusts her sword to the side as Madison stands back up. She's surprised when Madison's sword whips up and stops her's. Madison gets firm footting and pushes Cree back, a feet Madison had never been able to do.
For a minute, they stand still, both panting slightly. Cree looks over at Madison as she whips the sweat from her brow. Slowly, she watches as Madison's sword begins to morph once again into the other sword, the real one. Cree gulps. There was no way that her flimsy plastic sword would stand up to Madison's. But, she tosses the thought from her mind and runs at Madison. Before her sword collides with Madison's she squizzes her eyes shut, preparing for the worst.
Instead, she hears the clashing of metal. She opens her eyes and gasps. Instead of her plastic sword is a real one, the now yellow hilt bent at the end, with a piece of strand metal bent in curly-que, a saphire attached to the end. She looks up at Madison, who looks just as surprised as she is.
"That's not possible..." Madison says as she looks at the sword.
"Huh?"
"You can't have a zampakutou..."
"Zampakutou?" Cree repeats.
Slowly, Cree notices a faint glow coming from around Madison's neck. She looks down to see a lime green pendant with an arrow eteched in it hanging from a leather string around Madison's neck. Madison looks up at Cree, then pushes her away, more forceful then last time. Insisting to get answers, Cree rushes back, to meet Madison's blade one once again.
Suddenly, Cree is somewhere else. A void to say correclty.
"What the-?"
"What are you doing here?" a familar voice says.
Cree looks up and gasps. It was the girl from sketch Madison had been drawing during lunch! Her hair is chestnut brown and wavy, held up in a high ponytail by a lime green ribbon, bangs covering her right eye and thick strands of hair all that hang down, covering her ears. Similar to Madison's. She's bears the same necklace Madison was wearing a minute ago, along with a pink ribbon choker with another lime green gem attached to it around the base of her neck. She wears a pink, sleeveless, over-thing over a kimono with black curly-lined designs and black trimming, lime green arm bands transending from underneath the sleeves of the kimono, along with sandals worn over white sock-like things on her feet.
"How should I know?!"
"This isn't good. Cree, you need to get out of here now." the girl says as she pushes on Cree's back.
"How do you know my name?"
"No questions, I need to get you out of here before something happens."
"No! Tell me who you-"
Cree turns to see a steel sword pointed at her neck. Cree looks farther down the shaft of the blade and gasps when she sees the handle.
"I'm sorry for doing this. But it looks like it's the only way to get your soul out of here. Forgive me for using this method." the girl says as her shown eye begins to glove light blue, causing Cree's to widen more.
"Your eyes, the sword. Madison has the same. Just who are you?" Cree asks.
The girl looks away for a minute, then sighs and looks back. Her eyes are still glowing, but look more kind and nuturing.
"You can call me Yattamori." the girl says as the room begins to sway.
"Yatta..mori..."
The girl nods. Suddenly the void dims and becomes black.
"Match-Madison!" Mr. Chiado's voice calls.
"Huh?"
Cree blinks and finds a plastic sword point at her neck, and Madison at the other end, her eyes a normal hazel. Madison lowers her arm and smiles.
"I warned you." Madiso says as she laughs.
Cree grins, her mind returning to what just happened. Who exactly is that Yattamori girl? And is she gonna show up again?

Death and Reincarnation (Madison Shecker's Story) pt. 22

"...Am I dead? Well, I don't remember this happening the last time I died, so I guess I'm not. It's dark and a little creepy. I would say I'm floating, but I can't tell, seeing as how it's dark, as I said before. I want my family, my dog, my friends, Virginia, Cree, Kayla, and Bianca. I want Aneko, Rikuto, Haruna, Miyoko, Hinamori, and all I've known. I want Toshiro. More then anything, I want to go back and mess around with him, like we used to. Though, it seems that I can't do that while I'm here. But, wait a minute. I'm not in body, but I can sense it's moving. How can it be moving without me in it?! I can't seem to get back in control. Someone else must be there. So, if I'm here, who's in my body?!...

SOUL SOCIETY
Toshiro's Perspective
Toshiro begins to run as Yattamori falls closer to the ground. Above he hears Kenta laughing at the dying Yattamori as squad members from Squad T.P., Squad 1, and Squad 2 flashstep quickly to capture him. Suddenly as Yattamori reaches 10 feet from the ground, she disappears. Toshiro stops in his tracks as he sees a flash pass him, then rush quickly towards Kenta, who's not watching. As Kenta finally catches wind of something occuring, many arrows come shooting at him from many angles. Kenta moves quickly, and is able to dodge many of the arrows, some nicking him, while one sticks in one of his arms. The squads watch in surprise and horror as the flash passes them, the spector only streaming past their eyes for only seconds.
"Arrows?! That's impossible! Only Captain Yattamori has a zampakutou that can turn into a bow n' arrow! And she's as close to death as you can get!" Kenta yells.
Right after, a sword at great speed, sticks Kenta in the left side, right beside his lung. The impact forces Kenta to swing his sword, and release it, sending it flying into the dark woods.
"What?!" Kenta says.
"Well...it seems the tables have turned..." a high pitched voice says.
Toshiro glances back and sees Yattamori's sword is gone.
Kenta looks down and quickly, Yattamori appears, her hands clutching the hilt, and she's smirking. The squad members gasp. She's in shikai, so swan-like wings are attached to her back. But, unlike being normally pure white, they're a dirty gray, almost black.
"Yattamori..." Toshiro says, his eyes wide.
"But...how?" Kenta says.
"Do you have to know everything, boy? It's simple, you weren't paying attention, and at first chance, I began firing. Then, while you were looking for another arrow attack, I swooped in with a stab with my sword." Yattamori says, her eyes still closed.
"The...poison. It should of...left you motionless! How are you...still able to move?!" Kenta yells.
"Hehehe. It seems there are some things that are still a mystery..." Yattamori says.
Yattamori opens her eyes. Kenta gasps.
"Eh, Kenta..." Yattamori says, finishing her sentence.
"You're eyes, their RED! And the whites of your eyes are BLACK! What's going on? WHAT ARE YOU?!" Kenta yells.
Toshiro gasps. Red eyes? The whites of her eyes are black? Toshiro staggers on his feet. The person above him wasn't Yattamori.
Slowly, Toshiro notices Yattamori's hair begining to grow lighter. Her hair was turning white, like in Yattamori's vision.
"Hahaha!" Yattamori chuckles, smirking.
Without regret, she jerks her sword sideways inside Kenta, causin him to yell in agony. She keeps doing it, apparently enjoying Kenta's cries in pain. Her squad members watch in horror, seeing their Captain act like someone they've never seen. Aneko covers her face, tears falling silently as she watches Yattamori's cruel actions. Suddenly, Yattamori jerks her sword back, severing it from the gash in Kenta's side, causing him to screech in pain. She whips her sword to her side, causing the blood to disappear from her blade. Kenta falls to his knees, gasping for air, trying to fight the pain.
"Captain, what do you think you're doing?!" Aneko yells as she comes to stand next to Yattamori.
Toshiro gulps as Yattamori smirks and begins to chuckle wickedly.
...No, stop...please!...
Without regret, she whips her blade before Aneko then sends it plunging into her right arm.
...ANEKO!...
Aneko cries from the pain of the surprise attack as everyone gasps. Toshiro's eyes widen.
That's definitely not Yattamori.
"How adorable, you're worried about me, aren't you?" Yattamori says in her strange high voice, not looking at Aneko.
"Captain...why?" Aneko asks as she tries to pulls her arm from Yattamori's sword.
"Why you ask? Well," Yattamori says as she looks up at Aneko with her red eyes, causing her to gasp in fright, "lets just say I'm not exactly the person you love so much."
Yattamori pulls back her sword from Aneko's flesh and whips her sword to the side again, removing Aneko's blood. As Aneko clutches her arm, Yattamori kicks her right in the gut, sending Aneko flying about 20 feet before she finally catches her footing. Yattamori rolls her eyes as she turns back to Kenta, who's still on his knees.
Yattamori's hair becomes a super light blonde now as she starts to frown and look more serious. Yattamori silently raises her right arm, her sword in hand, above her head. Toshiro gasps.
"Yattamori, stop." He says.
"I've grown bored of you, Kenta...torturing you has become dull..." Yattamori says as she raises her other hand to meet the bloodstained hilt.
"Please, stop..." Toshiro says louder.
"Now, die and go to Hell!" Yattamori yells, thrusting her sword down.
"MADISON, DON'T DO IT!" Toshiro yells, running to stand right below her.
I won't kill him...
Suddenly, Yattamori's body seizes, her sword half way down, only about 14 inches from Kenta's body.
"What?!" Yattamori says in her high voice.
"She stopped..." Aneko says, gripping her bleeding arm.
"Stubborn girl, stop resisting, and let me kill him!" Yattamori says, trying to break her frozen stance,
NO!...
"Don't you want him dead?! He tried to kill you. Why would you want to show him mercy?!" Yattamori says, now gripping her head with her left hand.
That doesn't matter! I'm not a murderer!...
Toshiro's eyes widen. Yattamori was fighting the darkness inside herself, trying to regain control of her body. He flash steps to be up in the air directly across from Yattamori.
"Why you twit! Stop trying to gain control. You're too weak. You can't overpower me!" Yattamori says, swinging her sword wildly.
I won't let you do this! It's my fight, not yours'!...
"It's OUR fight! Now, stop interfering!" Yattamori yells in her high voice, her swinging becoming more fierce as she stumbles back.
"Madison, get a hold of yourself!" Toshiro yells as he runs to her side.
"Captain Hitsugaya, stop! She'll slaughter you too!" Aneko yells.
Toshiro, stay back! Please!...
Yattamori's red eyes catch sight of Toshiro as he runs closer from behind. She whips her body around, along with her sword, but stops it just short of Toshiro's head.
Aneko watches in surprise.
"She didn't cut him..." she whispers.
Toshrio stops dead in his tracks, his eyes wide in surprise and some fear. They stand there like that for a few moments, Yattamori clutching her head with her other hand, breathing hard, her almost white bangs soaked in sweat. Her red eyes glow like dark fires, filled with anguish, confusion, hatred...
...fright...
Slowly, Toshiro feels a cut grow on his right cheek from Yattamori's blade, and stand still motionless as he feels a scarlet line of blood trickle down the right side of his face.
The sight of his blood makes Yattamori gasp, her eyes widening in shock.
I made...him bleed...
Tears slowly form in Yattamori's eyes, and after a few blinks, the whites of her eyes become normal again, and her eyes return to being hazel. Within a few seconds, her hair fades back to chestnut brown. She slowly lowers her sword, dropping it.
Suddenly, her legs give out, but Toshiro catches her in his arms. She begins to sob into his kimono, clutching the fabric that made the shirt of the uniform.
"Wha-What...was that?!" Yattamori says inbetween sobs, her voice returned to normal, but cracking.
"I don't know...I truly don't." Toshiro says, holding Yattamori close in his arms.
Aneko appears next to him and kneels to get closer to Yattamori.
"Captain, is she alright." Aneko asks, fear in her voice.
"I don't think so. Right now, I think she's only awake on pure adrenaline. Once that wears off, her health is  going to begin to disintegrate fast." Toshiro answers as Yattamori still sobs.
He looks behind him.
"Where's Kenta?" he asks.
"He's being taken to Squad 4 now. After, they're taking him to the ICU area in the prison." Aneko says.
"Did Haruna get the Head Captain?" he asks.
Aneko nods.
"She left right after Yattamori was stabbed..." Aneko says, shuttering at the memory.
Within moments, a crowd begins to form around Toshiro and Yattamori. He shifts Yattamori in his arms to make it so he can cradle her in his arms.
"Yattamori, be strong. We're moving now." Toshiro whispers into her ear.
Yattamori looks up at him and nods. As he stands, the Head Captain appears, Haruna close behind. When his eyes lands on Yattamori, he gasps.
"She's even worse then I thought." the Head Captain says, then looks up at Toshiro, "I've already alerted Squad 4, they'll be waiting."
Toshiro nods.
"Good, let's go." Toshiro says as he begins to flashstep at great speed.
He senses the Head Captain and Aneko close behind, some others farther behind them. Toshiro looks down as Yattamori begins to moan in pain. She lets out a blood curdling stream. Toshiro begins to flashstep even faster. The poison is beginning to take effect again. He clutches her closer to him as his speed increases even more. Suddenly, Yattamori begins to fall limp. He looks down. Yattamori is losing consciousness. Fear begins to fill Toshiro's body as he pushes himself to go even faster. He couldn't let her die.
Within seconds, he finds himself at the Squad 4 barricks, squad members waiting to see the result of Kenta's and Yattamori's duel. He lays her quickly on the bed and begins to run with the other Soul Reapers to get her to Captain Unohana. Yattamori screams again, causing Toshiro to shutter in mid-step. He watches as patients and squad 4 members begin to line the hallway to see all the commotion. Then, he feels a hot pressure in his right hand. He turns to see Yattamori's hand clutching his tightly. Her eyes flutter open and she looks over at him.
Toshiro...
Yattamori's voice streamed past in his head. She was using one of her abilities to talk to him.
"You'll be alright, just hang on." Toshiro says, trying to reassure her.
Toshiro, I'm sorry...
"Why?" he asks, confused by her apology.
I might not...be able to...keep my promise...to you...
Toshiro's heart skips a beat. Yattamori had made a promise to him around a week ago, the night before her fight with Kuchiki. She promised not to leave him again. Not to die again.
She thinks she might die.
He whips his head to look at her. Her eyes are fighting to stay open, but failing. Her breathing is hard and forced.
"Yattamori..." he says, his eyes wide.
Her hand becomes limp and falls to the bed. Her eyes close, her breathing falls dramatically.
Suddenly, a squad member blocks Toshiro's way and separates him from Yattamori as she goes through the double doors to the O.R.
"What do you think you're doing?!" Toshiro yells.
"I'm sorry Captain Hitsugaya. I can't let you enter the Operating Room at this time." the member says, authority in his voice.
...Toshiro, where are you?...Please, stay with me...
Yattamori's voice sounds scared and weak.
"Yattamori needs me! Let me through!" Toshiro yells, panic starting to fill his body.
Another of Yattamori's streams fills the air, it's more agonizing and sharp.
"Madison!" Toshiro yells as he tries to pass the member.
The member catches him in mid-step, and pushes him back.
"I can't let you pass! Now, wait patiently, Sir!" the member says.
"Let me in! I have to be there for Madison. Now move this-" Toshiro begins to yell.
A hand on his shoulder stops him in mid-yell and he turns back. It Captain Kuroraku, Captain Ukitake close behind.
"Calm down, Captain Hitsugaya. The guy's just doing as ordered. Just wait, they'll let you in soon. Don't worry, Madison will be fine. Just have faith and patience." Kuroraku says as Toshiro's breathing slows a little.
"But-" Toshiro starts to say.
"Please Captain. Stop. You're starting to worry us." a voice says from behind him.
Toshiro turns in the direction of the voice, and sees Rangiku, Aneko, and Hinamori staring at him, concern in their eyes.
"Please, we've seen enough for one day." Hinamori says.
Toshiro pulls his eyes away from her and turns away, clutching his fists in anger and irritation. He looks into the window of one of the O.R. doors. Yattamori is surrounded by many soul reapers, including Captain Unohana. He looks down at Yattamori, and he notices something. She keeps feeling around for something with her right hand.
...Where are you?!...
He shutters. She was feeling around for his hand. She wanted him there to comfort her, as her best friend.
...Madison, please, return to the other world you live in...you won't be in pain there...
He lets the thought run past his mind, sow that Yattamori might hear it. He looks back through the window, then turns away and walks from the building.
As Yattamori is prepped, her hand stays motionless on the covers of the bed.

OUR WORLD
Madison's Perspective
Slowly, Madison's eyes begin to open, seeing nothing but darkness.
Was it already nighttime?
She looks about, her eyes still adjusting to the darkness.
"Toshiro, are you there?" she calls quietly, her voice cracking.
She sits up and realizes she under a fuzzy teal comforter in a mildly messy room.
This isn't the Soul Society.
She turns and looks at her electric clock on her desk. It reads 2:37 a.m. Only a little more then five hours since she left this world and journeyed to the Soul Society. Her mind finally races back to her last hours in the Soul Society. The duel! She was taken over by a dark entity. It'd stabbed Aneko. And it almost hurt Toshiro, like it did in her nightmare.
I made him bleed...
Madison feels tears begin to roll down her face. Within in minutes, she's sobbing, as she does the rest of the night...

Death and Reincarnation (Madison Shecker's Story) pt. 21

"...What's going on? Why does Kenta know some of things he does? It's not in the records or any of his hand-made documents, so it's not possible. But then, how on Earth was he capable to teach himself all the things he knows? At the moment I don't know myself, but as this fight continues I'm gonna figure it out no matter what. And that's a promise. But, while my head is rapped around that, I have a feeling that something bad is gonna happen soon. As my heart beats wilder with every thrust of my blade, I'm starting to feel darkness. And I have a feeling that it wants to get out very soon...

SOUL SOCIETY
Madison's Perspective
Toshiro and Madison walk down a narrow path that lead to an open field surrounded by woods. The place where Madison would fight Kenta.
"I still don't think you should do this." Toshiro says, breaking the silence.
Madison turns to face him.
"I know how you feel about it, but I have to do this. If I don't, I'll look cowardly. Besides, all of my squad is looking forward to the duel. I owe them something for the hard work they did yesterday. Many improved, others were able to perfect it, and some have become naturals. I was also told that while I was training with the groups, other members were practicing their abilities. So, I have to do it." Madison explains as they turn around a tree.
"But Yattamori-"
"No "buts", I'm doing it, and you can't change my mind."
Toshiro doesn't speak for a moment, then sighs.
"And you'd better not interfere unless I'm fatally wounded or something li-"
"Alright. Just promise that you won't do anything reckless or stupid. And that you'll leave alive."
Madison looks surprised, then grins.
"I promise."
Toshiro nods and turns back to face forward, Madison doing the same after. After a few minutes, they finally reach the field. Many members have already gathered in the outskirts of the field, including Natsu, Haruna, and Rikuto. Madison glances over at Rikuto. He's talking to one of the newer members she didn't get to meet. As if he knew she was looking at him, he looks over and smiles, then puts his hand up in a more modern wave. She does the same then turns back, and her eyes widen when she hears a embarrassed sigh from over her shoulder. She begins to turn back when her eye catches a glimse of a shadowy figure at the other side of the field.
It's Kenta talking with a few girls who are apparently head-over-heels for him. One is hanging on one of his arms while another hangs on to the other arm, with another girl standing right beside him clinging to everyword he says. Toshiro and Madison rolls their eyes and walk towards him still. Within moments, Kenta has gone from being completely intharled with girls to being alert and watchful of Toshiro and Madison, especially Madison.
"Congrats on being the best yesterday Kenta. I had a feeling you'd do well, but I never thought you would be the one to beat out everyone." Madison says in the most normal happy voice she can muster as they come to stand in front of Kenta and the girls.
The flirty girls immediatley stop flirting and step behind Kenta. As Madison catches glimces of their faces, she discovers they're all newbe's. No wonder.
"Thank you Captain. But, I would like to change a few of the standards of the duel, if you don't mind." Kenta says in a fake friendly voice.
Madison's and Toshiro's eyes widen.
"Change the standards?" Toshiro says.
"That's right. I don't want it to be a simple clash of swords, show some abilities fight. I want it to be an all out battle. I know that you still haven't used your bankai since your return, so we'll keep it at shikai only." Kenta says smiling.
The girls behind him gawk at him, not believeing he just said that to their Captain. Madison's eyes widen even more. How did he know that she hadn't used her bankai? Only a few people knew, and those people she had told herself. Well, at least he didn't know that she didn't remember how to summon her bankai-
"Or should I say "can't" use your bankai?" Kenta says.
Madison's expression becomes an angry frown as Kenta leans over.
"I'm taking you out today, so be ready for my blade, Captain." he whispers into her ear.
Madison chuckles.
"In your dreams Kenta. I'm not going to be the one to fall today, it'll be you. And be warned, I plan to use more then 20% this time." she whispers back.
Kenta's eyes widen, seeing as how she had only brought him down last time with only 18% of her power.
He steps back and gives her a snarl while the girls aren't looking. But as soon as they turn towards him, he gives an innocent smile, then walks off with the three girls following close behind.
"That idiot. Trying to make me feel unsteady. The nerve that guy has makes me sick." Madison says as she turn away from Kenta.
"Don't tell me you intend to fight him under his conditions." Toshiro says, walking up to her left side.
"I have to. Remember what I said 20 minutes ago. I have to do this fight so that I don't look like a coward. Not excepting his challenge will do the same." Madison explains.
"Yattamori, you're walking into a trap and you know it." Toshiro says, trying to keep his voice calm and quiet.
"Yes, I do. I'll just have to work my through the trap, and I'll be fine. Besides, I taken a few precautions."
"Like what?"
Madison points up to the tree line. Toshiro follows her finger, then gasps. A few dozen soul reapers line the trees. Some are even from the stealth force.
"I asked the Head Captain and Caption Soi Fon of Squad 2 to lend me a few of their members to be, "security" for the fight. I have Aneko keeping them completely invisible to all the members of the squad except for a few, which are you, me, Aneko, Rangiku, and two of my squad members." Madison explains.
Toshiro looks back at her.
"Who are the squad members?"
Suddenly, two soul reapers appear besides Madison on one knee in respect to the two Captains. They are Haruna and Miyoko, Madison's 5th and 6th seats. Madison turns to them and smile.
"Good, you're right on time. Get up, you guys should know I hate when my friends do that."
They both rise. Madison smiles. Miyoko has her red hair in a side braid with orange, magenta, dark blue ribbons braided in with her normal straight bangs the same as they always were. While Haruna's blonde hair is just in simple ponytail, her shorter side bangs framing her big grey eyes nicely.
"So, why did you want us to come?" Miyoko asks.
"I want you to stay nearby if I need your help, especially in the event there's a life-threatening injury." Madison says.
She then turns to Haruna.
"And if something happens, I want you to go and report it to the Head Captain at once."
"Are you expecting something to happen? You still haven't told us why you're taken this much procaution with this fight with Kenta." Haruna asks.
"Kenta is more dangerous then he lets on. And, you two should know, that he's a good trickster. I'm doing this so that I'll have back-up if he tries anything funny with me during the duel." Madison explains.
The two look at each other, then look back at Madison and nod.
"Good, now go and find places in the tree line where you can't be seen, Aneko will sheild you in her invisiblity too." Madison says as she turns from them.
"Yes Ma'am." they say at once before disappearing.
Madison becomes irritated and turns back.
"Don't call me "Ma'am!" she yells after them.
She hears Toshiro laughing behind her.
"Don't laugh at me! I hate it when my friends do that!" Madison yells at Toshiro, now in his face.
"Sorry, it's hard not to." Toshiro says, still chuckling.
Madison smiles. Toshiro was a major stick in the mud sometimes. And because of that he never smiles or laughs at that. To see him smiling and laughing made her happy. There's then a tap on Madison's shoulder. She turns to see Aneko looking at her, tired probably from the invisibility barrier she is holding up.
"It's time to start the duel. I taken the liberty of already clearing the squad members from the field." Aneko says as she points towards the field.
Madison look around her to see she's right. All the people who were on the field were now on one side of the perimeter. Madison's smile fades as she sees Kenta come to the middle of the field, smirking.
Suddenly a vile thought streams across her mind, in a voice she didn't know as her conchance.
"Kill him...you know you want to..."
She stumbles over to Toshiro, who's expression has turned to worry. She looks over at him.
"I've got a bad feeling about this." she whispers to him.
"Me too. Just don't be reckless. Don't worry, if it looks bad, I'll step in." Toshiro says reassuringly.
"Kay," Madison says as she nods and begins to walk away.
The voice rings across her mind, she tries to block it, but it seeps into her mind anyway.
"If you won't...I will.."

Toshiro's Perspective
Toshiro stands beside Aneko on the side opposite side of the field then the squad members as Yattamori and Kenta come to stand in front of each other in the middle of the field. Kenta draws his blade from it's sheath and holds it in front of him with both hands. Yattamori stands there, motionless. They don't exchange words at all. The only way Toshiro knows that the duel has started is Kenta yells as he runs towards Yattamori, his sword at his left side now. As he comes to be only inches from Yattamori, he pulls his sword across his body, but is surprised when he only hits air. Yattamori appears again behind him, her arms still crossed in front of her. He turns quickly and goes for an array attacks.Yattamori dodges each with grace and intriging speed. But, a chain wraps around Yattamori's left arm, causing her to loose her timing, and get nicked by his blade. She flashsteps away, the chain though still connected to her arm, scarlet lines dripping down the left side of her face.
"Pierce, CHEINSHOUTEN(Death Chain)." Kenta says.
Suddenly, long, sharp spikes begin to appear on the chain and within moments, some stab into the skin and muscle of Yattamori's left upper arm.
"AHH!" Yattamori yells as some rip almost completely through her arm.
"CAPTAIN!" Aneko yells, Toshiro struggling to hold her back or keep himself from running to her himself.
Toshiro sees and hears the members across the field gasping and yelling harshly at Kenta for hurting Yattamori, especially Rikuto.
Kenta laughs, ignoring their shouts.
"Now you can't escape my chain or me. Feel my wrath, Captain!" Kenta says as he launches himself at the wounded Yattamori.
"Such a pain..." Toshiro barely hears Yattamori whisper.
Suddenly, Yattamori becomes completely invisible, even to Toshiro, and the chains that had been implanted in her arm fall to the grass, clattering as they did so. Kenta's eyes widen as comes to stand alone in the field. The air still and there's no sound but the hushed breaths of everyone.
"HADO 33, SHOCAN SWEI!"
A great, fast, blue-white energy orb flashes passed everyone's eyes and hits Kenta square on in the back, knocking him to the ground. Yattamori appears behind him, up in the air, her arm healed  to the point that the huge stab wounds appear as only small, shallow gashes with only little bits of blood dripping out. When Kenta rises, a disgusted snear is his only expression.
"I'm impressed. You were able to track my movements, trap me, then hit me with multiple serious wounds at once. That's something that would catch most opponents off." Yattamori says to Kenta below her.
"I'm impressed too. You were able to fend off all of my thrusts, escaping with only the cut on your cheek. Then when it seemed I had you, you used two of your advanced abilities to escape my death hold, then sneak up, and give me the wound on my back with a extremely powerful kido. And somehow, inbetween those two actions, somehow heal your serious wounds to the point that they are as harmless as a scratch." Kenta complements Yattamori, "You're better then I thought."
"Don't be too impressed."
"But, still..." Kenta says.
"Hmm?" Yattamori says, her eyes narrowing.
Suddenly, Kenta disappears. Yattamori gasps, and looks around. Toshiro watches as Yattamori does a 360, looking in every direction. Her expression turns to alarm and looks over at him. Toshiro's eyes widen as he realizes why Yattamori is so freaked out. She can't track Kenta sprirtual pressure. Meaning she has no way of knowing where he is whatsoever. Or where he'll strike.
Out of nowhere, Kenta appears behind Yattamori. Luckily, she notices and turns, Mamori appearing out of thin air in her clutched hand, and uses Mamori to counter Kenta's overhead thrust, his zampakutou back in the form of a blade.
The impact sends Yattamori flying about 20 feet, slamming her into a huge tree trunk. Toshiro instinivly begins to move, but stops himself again. He'd promised not to interfere with the fight unless she was seriously injured. But...
"Why YOU!" he hears Yattamori yell, anger in her voice.
He looks up to see Yattamori flying at Kenta fast, crashing her blade on his, sparks flying from the force of the impact. Her injuries from the crash into the tree were minimal at most, a little scratch here and theere, a small gash on her thigh, but nothing that Yattamori could easily heal. For a few minutes, they only clash blades, speaking only a few times. But as Yattamori pulls her sword from the right side, Kenta disappears again. Again, Yattamori looks around, knowing not where Kenta is.
Suddenly, Toshiro sees Yattamori clutch the left side of her head, as if she's begining to get a headache. As she reopens her eyes, he catches a glimpse of a heart-stopping sight. Her eyes are blood red, dark and dangerous and the whites of her eyes are now jet black. Her hair flashes white in his mind's eye, and he stumbles back. Within moments though, after blinking a few times, her eyes return to being hazel and her whites, well, white. And her hair stays chestnut brown, causing his breathing to slow.
But, it doesn't last.
As Yattamori turns her head, Kenta appears right in front of her. Before she can turn her head all the way back around, he punches her as hard as he can in the gut, sending her flying high into the air, above even the vast, high treeline. Within a moment, Kenta meets her at the climax. Yattamori gains footing in the air, but it's no use.
"Goodbye, my young Captain." Toshiro can somehow hear Kenta say, probably from some kido Yattamori cast so that he would know what was being said at all times.
Then, without a second thought, Kenta thrusts his blade, and blood falls to the ground, some upon Toshiro's cheek.
His eyes widen as Mamori Koudoutai drops silently from Yattamori's grip to the ground, landing only a foot infront of him. He inspects the blade. It was clean. He then reluctantly looks higher at the hilt. He gasps. It's covered in spatters of scarlet blood.
His mind goes into shock as he faintly hears squad members cry out Yattamori's name. It's not until he looks up again that it finally registers what has happened. Kenta's blade is neatly inbedded all the way through the middle of Yattamori's right side, stabbing right through her lower right arm as well. A blood trail runs from the side of Yattamori's mouth, indicating she's spit up some blood, and that Kenta's probably pierced some vital organs.
"CAPTAIN!" Aneko yells.
"Hmm. You used a barrier to divert the direction of my sword so that it wouldn't be fatal. Oh well, it doesn't matter." Kenta says.
"What..?" Yattamori says.
Suddenly a jolt of pain fill Yattamori's body. Toshiro's eyes widen as if he can feel her pain. Yattamori lets out a heart-wrenching scream as the pain intenseifies.
"I covered my blade with a fatal poison. It takes effect as soon as it enters the blood stream. This one in particular gives out pain signals every 50 seconds. So, you'll die in agony either way. This way just is more gruesome and takes longer." Kenta explains.
Moments later, Yatramori out another scream, Toshiro's eyes widening even more.
Kenta laughs, but stops when, Yattamori looks up at him through the pain.
"I'm not gonna die...here. I promised...Toshiro...that I would leave here...alive. That...I..wouldn't leave him...again..." Yattamori says inbetween forceful breaths.
Toshiro's breath catches as Kenta smirks.
Kenta then pulls his blade back, making Yattamori let out a even more blood-curdling scream. When it's completely out, Yattamori's arms goes limp at her side, blood dripping silently from her fingertips. All that holds Yattamori in the air is Kenta's arm, which is collied around the collar of her kimono. Toshiro senses Yattamori losing consciousness, and soon her body begins to limp.
"This time, stay dead." Kenta says, letting go of Yattamori.
"Yattamori..." Toshiro says as Yattamori begins to fall 75 feet to the ground.
Suddenly, soul reapers from Yattamori's squad, Squad 1, and the stealth force begin to spring themselves towards Kenta as Yattamori still falls.
Toshiro finally breaks as a single tear rolls down his face.
"MADISON!!"
